Festival of Women’s Football Awards has been created to celebrate women’s football from grassroots to professional level and to help drive key investment into the sector and encourage systemic change.
The vision of the co-owner and CEO of Festival of Media, Jeremy King, the programme has been curated by the women’s football industry for the women’s football industry.
The idea was conceived after King developed a passion for the women’s game after setting up the girls’ division at a local grassroots club after being asked by two of his three daughters five years ago. He has since helped the girls’ division grow from 15 to 165 girls from U8s to U16s.
During this time he has begun to understand the challenges and issues of grassroots football, but also the benefits of playing football and how it helps teach girls and women life skills they can use in football and other industries. The programme is also designed to bring together grassroots and professional players and celebrate the entire football structure.
The first edition of the Festival of Women’s Football Awards will take place at a central London location on 23 April before expanding into Latin America in time of the World Cup in the region in 2027.
Ahead of a huge summer women’s sport, the Festival of Women’s Football Awards are a huge opportunity for brands to connect with a diverse, engaged and hyper connected women’s football audience.
It has been set up for brands to use it as vehicle to understand the opportunities available in the women’s game and to provide access to the industry high spending audiences of families, women, men and the LGBTQ+ community.
It’s an opportunity to be part of one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK.
